Acutec Virtual Technician^TM is an Out of Band Management (OBM) solution powered by Uplogix that enables Acutec technicians to access on board equipment remotely from our offices. Even if the VSAT is down or out of coverage, a 3G, Wi-Fi or Fleet Broadband link can be used to access the on-board systems, diagnose any problems and often make a repair without the need for a technician to visit.

This can be invaulable where there is heavy reliance on broadband data links to shore. Implementation can save many thousands of dollars in travel costs and downtime.

In more routine scenarios such as VSAT beam changing or regular preventative maintenance, the Virtual Technician can connect through the broadband VSAT link. Remote personnel can gather performance information, record settings and perform normal maintenance. Many maintenance tasks can even be automated. On most ships, staff are not IT or communications specialists so this can be of great benefit and help to keep vital services up and costs down.
