  • Title: Superyacht Data Communications
  • Student Pre-requisites: None
  • Duration: 5 days full-time
  • Location: Sydney Australia
  • Class size: Maximum 6

This 5 day course prepares crew to take responsibility for maintaining data and voice communications on board a Superyacht. Focusing on industry-standard Sea Tel VSAT, it also covers iDirect modems, INMARSAT, 3G, Wi-Fi, and WAN switching equipment which is often installed to compliment the VSAT and provide alternate or redundant communications paths.

Practical sessions with professional marine communications technicians and engineers provide hands-on experience of operating, troubleshooting and maintaining a typical installation. Also included are basic network troubleshooting techniques, essential for maintenance and restoration of internet and telephone communications when there is an outage.

The course avoids the narrow focus and unnecessary detail of a manufacturer or satellite provider training session. Rather, the student will emerge with a detailed practical understanding of the data communications aboard their vessel. The knowledge gained will be easily transferable to other vessels and technologies encountered during their yachting career.

The Superyacht Data Communications programme is therefore a valuable addition to the training portfolio of any yachting professional.
